Changes to Victorian Probate Advertising
From 11 November 2024, there will be significant changes to the handling of probate advertisements in Victoria. The changes being introduced are designed to streamline the process and make it more efficient for users.
What you need to know
The Supreme Court is transitioning from the current Probate Online Advertising System (POAS) to a new platform called RedCrest-Probate. The changes that are being implemented will integrate the advertising process directly into the RedCrest-Probate system, which is already used to file applications.
Key Changes
Advertising Platform: From 8.00 am on Monday, 11 November 2024, all advertisements of an intention to apply for probate or administration must be published on RedCrest-Probate. The Probate Online Advertising System (POAS) will be taken offline permanently on 7 November 2024.
Outage Period: There will be a scheduled outage from 5.00pm on Thursday, 7 November 2024 until 8.00am on Monday, 11 November 2024 to facilitate the transition. During this time, neither the POAS nor RedCrest Probate will be available.
Advertisement Validity: Advertisements previously published on POAS will remain valid for 3 years from the date of publication and will be searchable on RedCrest-Probate.
